1 Siem Reap

Not only because of Angkor Wat, but Siem Reap is definitely worth a visit. Don’t miss out Pub street, with crazy cambodians partying all night long. Angkor Wat and the Bayon temple are really beautiful, but the tour that left the largest impression on us was the Cambodian Landmine museum, located just outside the city of Siem Reap. This museum tells you all about the landmines hidden in the country of Cambodia. The story of the Khmer man Aki Ra was even more impressive. Definitely go there if you are in Siem Reap!

2 Koh Rong

This is probably the most beautiful Island I’ve seen so far. When you get off the boat from Sihanoukville, you can see that the barstreet is literally at the beach… There are no cars and motorbikes on this island for transport. We enjoyed our nights at Koh Rong, there are many cocktailplaces and lots of parties. For the rest, I’ll suggest to go to Coconut beach and even to Coconut Beach Resort. The owner Robbie will do everything to make your stay very comfy. Coconut Beach is about 40 minutes with the boat. We coudn’t get on land with our boat, so we had to get off the boat with the luggage in our hands and swim to shore… What an experience. At Coconut Beach there are only 5 restaurants and sometimes there is no electricity on the island. So rather basic, but very worth it! We celebrated New Years Eve on this Island. A very classy NYE with a campfire and firework. Loved it.

3 Kam Pot

We experienced Kam Pot as the culinair city of Cambodia. A must visit when you are here is the Pepper tour of La Plantation. It’s a free tour with super nice tourguides that will explain you everything about the best pepper in the world. Rent a motorbike to discover the city and enjoy yourself with the best restaurants of Cambodia. Go for coffee and some bananabread to Cafe Espresso, for an exclusive but cheap dinner to Rikitikitavi. This is a really good and attractive restaurant. For something simple, but special food, go to Ciao. This is a streetrestaurant with an Italian owner. He only makes pizzas and pastas of very good quality and that for a cheap price! You have to wait a while, because the owner is alone and makes everything fresh, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

4 Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh itself is not that beautiful. It’s a big city with lots of resorts, but we enjoyed ourselves in this city. You can do a nice promenade walk and visit the grand palace, really beautiful. Phnom Penh is all about the killingfields and the killingmuseum. We first went to the museum and after this to the fields… There are no words for this. The Killing Fields are the place where the Khmer Rouge killed and buried thousands of people.  Today it has been turned into a memorial and educational center. The experience of the museum and the fields will deeply ingrained in me forever. When you go to Cambodia you can’t miss it.

5 Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville is all about the beaches. Otres beach was our favorite beach. We slept at White moon bungalow, I totally recommend this place. Good service and very sweet bungalows. Sihanoukville is the coastal city of Cambodia with lots of things to do and to discover. We did a buggy tour with Orange Fly, recommended by tripadvisor. We went to the bushbush of Sihanoukville and drove all the way with the buggy and discovered beautiful places. But mostly, the people will come to Sihanoukville to enjoy the beach and travel to Koh Rong.
